Profile…
The Nautical Institute aims to promote and co-ordinate nautical studies worldwide by promoting high standards of qualification, competence and knowledge among those in control of seagoing ships. The Institute facilitates the exchange and publication of information and ideas on nautical science and seeks to establish and maintain professional standards.
The Nautical Institute co-operates with Government departments and others concerned with qualifications, and with educational institutes and authorities to promote the training and practice of nautical science.
The Nautical Institute is an independent membership organisation funded primarily by membership subscriptions of individuals that want to advance their own knowledge and contribute to the development of the industry and the maritime organisations they serve.
The formation of The Nautical Institute branches and other groupings is actively encouraged worldwide. Branches provide members and the industry a local professional focus, in which naval members are integrated, with programs of technical and social meetings. This enhances communication and fellowship between professionals and proves to be a very good forum to bring together local shipping interests and also provides opportunities for involvement in projects internationally, made possible by The Nautical Institute Council’s current and future plan projects, working groups and seminars.
The Nautical Institute is a thriving international professional body with more than 40 branches worldwide and about 7,000 members in some 110 countries.
